Transaction Limits via IRIS Increased

DIAS S.A. announces that, as of Tuesday, 08 July 2025, the new, increased daily transaction limits via the IRIS Instant Payment service have come into effect. This adjustment is part of the organization’s ongoing strategy to promote digital payments, enhance transparency in financial transactions, and combat undeclared economic activity more effectively.

The new daily limits are as follows:
Up to €500 per day for money transfers between individuals (IRIS P2P)
Up to €500 per day for payments from individuals to self-employed professionals (IRIS P2B)
• Total combined daily limit: €1,000

The IRIS P2P service remains free of charge for the sender, while IRIS P2B applies a low transaction fee to the recipient professional.

Next Steps in the Evolution of IRIS

These changes mark the first phase in the broader upgrade of IRIS service capabilities, with the following milestones ahead:

As of November 2025, consumers will be able to make IRIS payments in both physical and online stores, with no amount limit, provided sufficient account balance exists.
• In January 2026, the IRIS P2P daily limit will increase to €1,000, with a monthly cap of €5,000.
• On the same date, the IRIS P2B daily limit will also increase to €1,000.
• By mid-2026, IRIS P2P functionality will expand to enable transfers to individuals abroad, in countries participating in the EuroPA interbank network (Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Andorra).

Strong Growth Trajectory for IRIS

IRIS continues to grow rapidly, serving as a key pillar in Greece’s transition to a fully digital payments ecosystem. In 2024, IRIS transactions exceeded €6.1 billion in total value, with 57.3 million interbank transfers—an increase of 137% compared to 2023.

Currently, over 3.8 million citizens actively use the IRIS P2P service, a number expected to surpass 4 million within the year. At the same time, more than 565,000 professionals utilize IRIS P2B, representing nearly the entire self-employed market. Additionally, 8,000 businesses and e-shops are already connected to IRIS Commerce, with a significant increase projected in the near future, as accepting IRIS payments becomes mandatory across the retail sector.

DIAS remains committed to the consistent execution of its strategic plan, reinforcing innovation and security in digital payments in Greece, and actively supporting the country's transition to a modern, transparent, and efficient transaction environment for all.
